Troubleshooting

Moving or Renaming a Finance Document

Capehelm uses a macOS bookmark-backed reference, so a moved or renamed Finance Document may continue to open when macOS can still resolve it.

Quick answer

Use Reveal in Finder before moving the active package. If Capehelm later cannot find it, choose Locate Document and select the .pfinance package again.

Before moving the active document

  1. Open Settings and view the active Finance File.
  2. Use Reveal in Finder to confirm the package you intend to move or rename.
  3. Move or rename the .pfinance package in Finder.
  4. Open Capehelm and confirm that the document still resolves.

If Capehelm can no longer locate it

Choose Locate Document in the Finance Document Unavailable screen and select the moved or renamed .pfinance package. Capehelm validates the selection and records a refreshed remembered reference when it opens successfully.

If you want to work with a different package instead, use Open Another Document or the Open Another Finance File control available for the active package in Settings.

Why it may keep working automatically

Capehelm remembers shared Finance Documents using durable macOS bookmark data rather than only a fixed text path. When macOS resolves a stale bookmark, Capehelm refreshes it and updates the remembered display name to the package name it found.
